This is a call for applications for the 2018 Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Programme, providing unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
8 Feb 2018
Maximum scholarship awards are:
$8,000 for a summer programme (special initiative for STEM students only; 8 weeks minimum)
$10,000 for a semester
$20,000 for 6 - 12 months
In exchange for funding, Boren Scholars commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.
Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).
