This call for applications is for the Evaristo Prize for African Poetry, a major annual poetry prize aimed at the development, celebration and promotion of poetry from Africa. It was previously known as the Brunel University International African Poetry Prize.

PRIZES

The winner(s) of the prize will receive $1,500.

Only poems written in English are accepted. Poems translated into English are also accepted with a percentage of the prize money going to the translator.

May 2023: The winner(s) of the Prize will be announced


HOST COUNTRY

United States


Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).
