The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme
(Updated 12 Apr 2026) Academics or professionals are invited to apply for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme (FVSP), also called the Fulbright African Research Scholar Programme (ARSP). The Programme is a research fellowship which awards grants to Nigerian academics or professionals to conduct advanced research at U.S. institutions.

PRIZES
Each successful applicant will be awarded a grant to conduct advanced research at U.S. institutions. Two categories of grants will be offered under The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme: Research Grants and Programme and Curriculum Development Grants.
The grant covers the following:
J-1 visa
Round trip airfare to the U.S
Settling-in allowance
Professional allowance
Monthly stipend
Housing allowance
Books-and-supplies allowance
Computer allowance
Basic university health insurance as a primary insurance coverage and the Fulbright ASPE health benefit as secondary coverage
Dependent allowance
Travel of one dependent if he/she will stay with the grantee for at least 80% of the grant period
