The UNDP Panda Ambassadors Contest


The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has teamed up with the Chengdu Panda Base in China, the world’s premier facility for the breeding and conservation of these beautiful and endangered animals, to designate two panda cubs as the first ever ‘Animal Ambassadors for the Global Goals.’

They have organised a video contest to name the 2 panda cubs.

PRIZES

17 winners of the video contest – one to represent each of the 17 Global Goals (also known as the Sustainable Development Goals) - will be invited to Chengdu Panda Base in China to attend an event to highlight and draw attention to the Goals, helping to spread the message worldwide about this agenda to address the root causes of poverty and the universal need for development that works for all people.


OTHER KEY DATES

The Contest begins on May 16, 2016.

The winning name suggestions for the Panda Ambassadors will be announced on or before 24 July 2016.

The names of the 17 winning Panda Champion entrants will be announced on or before 25 August 2016.




Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).

Multiple host countries may mean that no travel is required.
