Wakini Kuria Prize for Children’s Literature

This call for entries is for the 2023 edition of the Wakini Kuria Prize for Children’s Literature, which was established in 2019 to honour the memory and legacy of Wakini Kuria who served on the Advisory board of the African Writers Development Trust and as the Chief Editor of Writers Space Africa (WSA) magazine from 2017 until her demise in 2019.

The winner will receive a certificate and $200
2nd place will receive a certificate and $150
3rd place will receive a certificate and $100

Note that an entry fee of $10 is required.

HOST COUNTRIES

Kenya Nigeria

Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).

Multiple host countries may mean that no travel is required.
