This call for applications is for the 2019/2020 edition of The Royal Academy of Engineering Africa Prize, which encourages ambitious and talented sub-Saharan African engineers from all disciplines to apply their skills to develop scalable solutions to local challenges, highlighting the importance of engineering as an enabler of improved quality of life and economic development.

16 shortlisted applicants will receive an eight-month package of tailored support to help them achieve commercial success from their innovation, including three week-long immersion sessions, supplemented by remote support.
A winner will be selected to receive £25,000.
Three runners-up will each be awarded £10,000.

Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).
Multiple host countries may mean that no travel is required.
