Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation 2022

This call for applications is for the 2022 edition of The Royal Academy of Engineering Africa Prize, which encourages ambitious and talented sub-Saharan African engineers from all disciplines to apply their skills to develop scalable solutions to local challenges, highlighting the importance of engineering as an enabler of improved quality of life and economic development.

PRIZES

16 shortlisted applicants will receive a seven-month package of mentoring and training. The programme will be structured to give entrepreneurs the skills and knowledge to:
- strengthen and develop their existing business plans
- successfully communicate their innovations through pitching
- forge links with potential partners, investors and customers
- further develop their innovation
- move towards commercialisation or scale up

A winner will be selected to receive £25,000.

Three runners-up will each be awarded £10,000.

OTHER KEY DATES

July and August 2021: Applications checked for eligibility.
August and September 2021: Applications reviewed by technical expert
October 2021: Shortlist selected by judging panel by this date.
November 2021: All applicants will be notified of their application.
outcome by the end of this date.
Seven-month package of support begins for successful applicants.
May 2022: Stage two application.
June 2022: Finalists selected by judging panel.
July 2022: Winner chosen at final event.
