2017 Brunel University International African Poetry Prize


(Updated 8 Nov 2020) The Brunel University International African Poetry Prize is a major annual poetry prize of £3,000 aimed at the development, celebration and promotion of poetry from Africa. Now in its fourth year, this year the Prize is sponsored by Brunel University and Commonwealth Writers.

The winner of the prize will receive £3,000

The Prize works closely with the African Poetry Book Fund (APBF) and since its inception, most of the poets who have been nominated and/or won this award have published chapbooks with the African Poetry Book Fund series of ‘New Generation Chapbook Box Sets’.


OTHER KEY DATES

The shortlist will be announced March 6th 2017.
The winner of the Prize will be announced on May 2nd 2017.




Note that while some organisers may accept applications from all around the world, you may still be required to travel to the host country in order to take part in the later stages of a competition for instance, or you may be required to live there for a period of time to take part in a funded programme (e.g. scholarship, incubator, accelerator).

Multiple host countries may mean that no travel is required.
