(Updated 3 Dec 2021) This call for applications is for the 2022 edition of the Brunel University International African Poetry Prize, a major annual poetry prize aimed at the development, celebration and promotion of poetry from Africa. Now in its ninth year, the Prize is sponsored by Brunel University.

The winner(s) of the prize will receive £3,000.
Only poems written in English are accepted. Poems translated into English are also accepted with 50% of the Prize money going to the translator.
The Prize works closely with the African Poetry Book Fund (APBF) and since its inception, most of the poets who have been nominated and/or won this award have published chapbooks with the African Poetry Book Fund series of ‘New Generation Chapbook Box Sets’.
March 2022: The shortlist will be announced.
May 2022: The winner(s) of the Prize will be announced.
